THEARC Nominated for Best Arts and Culture Non-Profit in "Best of D.C. Reader's Poll" !

THEARC is a home away from home for the many underserved children and adults of East of the River, enabling them to participate in dance classes, music instruction, fine arts, academics, continuing education, mentoring, tutoring, recreation, medical and dental care, and other services at a substantially reduced cost or no cost at all. THEARC includes a regulation size gymnasium, libraries, computer labs, classrooms, dance, music and visual arts studios, an art gallery, public playgrounds and gardens and other first-rate facilities. Operating with the belief that access to arts and diverse cultural activities is the essence of community development, THEARC is also the home of THEARC Theater. This 365 seat, state of the art venue was created to provide DC residents living east of the Anacostia River entertaining and enlightening experiences that can impact their lives and brighten their futures. THEARC provides annual free Black History Month programming, free summer movies for youth, and a unique, affordable concert series entitled "Double Time Jazz at THEARC Theater." The theater is also home to town hall meetings, plays, graduation ceremonies, forums and comedy shows. We are a hub of activity and truly deserving of a Best of D.C. nod!
