THEARC Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Phase III Building and Partners

On Thursday, October 22, 2015, Building Bridges Across the River welcomed over 100 guests to participate in a groundbreaking ceremony in anticipation of the new building set to open in 2017. Notable speakers included Mayor Muriel Bowser, Ward 8 Councilmember LaRuby May, Deputy Mayor or Greater Economic Development Courtney Snowden and ANC 8B Commissioner Jacque Patterson. 

The Phase III Expansion of THEARC will bring a new 92,000 square foot building on the west side of the campus. The new facility will feature a black box theater and four partner organizations including:

  • Apple Tree Institute for Education Innovation
  • The Bishop Walker School for Boys
  • Children's National Health System
  • The Phillips Collection

A teaching kitchen and cafe will also move into the suite vacated by Children's National Health System's clinic.
