A Lesson from Chef Dean

 A Lesson from Chef Dean

The Washington Middle School for Girls in collaboration with Common Threads were lucky to have Chef Dean from Dino's Restaurant teach the students how to prepare a hearty Italian meal.  Common Threads is an independent organization with the mission to educate children on nutrition and physical well-being, while fostering an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking.  The program is also designed to teach low-income children how to cook wholesome meals which will in turn fight obesity.

“The Washington Middle School for Girls is thrilled to partner with Chef Dean and Common Threads in advocating healthy cooking habits.  It is vital that our girls celebrate the cultural differences that exist all over the world, and that they incorporate the healthy habits they have learned here at school into their everyday lives.  It is only in working with individuals and groups like these, that our girls learn of cultures and beliefs from all over the world – something so important if they are to go on to lead lives of compassion and leadership,” said Sister Mary Bourdon, RJM,  Head of School for WMSG.
