The First Lady of Japan Visits THEARC During Washington, D.C. Tour

On April 29, 2015, First Lady of Japan, Mrs. Akie Abe visited THEARC during a tour of Washington, D.C. The wife of the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, was greeted by co-founder of THEARC, Skip McMahon and Executive Director, Edmund Fleet before learning about the partners and programs at THEARC. Mrs. Abe enjoyed a brief performance by two students of The Washington Ballet - Ranisha Jackson and Elyse Miller. She later addressed the students of the Washington School for Girls, encouraging them to pursue their dreams. The visit ended with a gift exchange in which each WSG student received a token from the first lady. 

During the Prime Minister's & First Lady's visit to Washington, D.C. included a formal dinner and press conference with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
