Southeast Campus Summer Dance Program Auditions at THEARC

Auditions for students aged 4 and up will be held the weeks of February 2, March 2, April 6, April 27 and May 4. If spaces are still available after these auditions, we will hold additional auditions the week of June 2. Parents must call to schedule auditions since they will occur during our regularly scheduled classes. A non-refundable audition fee is due at the time of audition. Fee schedule listed below:

THEARC Introduces "YouthNights" Evening Programming during Spring Break 2015

Most of our local schools are closed the week of April 13th and the young people of Ward 7 and Ward 8 will need a safe place to go in the evenings, and need a safe way to get there. The Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) is that place. We are adding extra hours during spring break (April 13th-April 16th) so community youth have something to do at night.

Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts Hosts Spring Entrepreneurship Series at THEARC

Every Wednesday from 6pm – 8pm, beginning April 1st and running through May 6th, Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts (WALA) will host its annual Spring Creative Entrepreneurship series at the THEARC. Each series session is free for WALA members and $30 per session for WALA non-members. Participants can choose to attend as few or as many sessions as they would like to attend. Pre-registration is requested, but not required. 

THEARC Theater Welcomes Kendall Isadore as Double Time Jazz Opener

Kendall Isadore is a violinist, vocalist, pianist, instructor and songwriter based in Washington, DC. On Friday, April 17th she will open for renowned acapella group, Take 6, as a part of THEARC's Double Time Jazz concert series. 

Born in Houston, Texas, Kendall Nicole Isadore is a vocalist, Violinist, Pianist, songwriter and instructor. Even as a graduate of Howard University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, music has always been Kendall’s passion. She started pursuing music at the tender age of 8 years old.

"The Invisible Wall" on View at the Community Gallery at THEARC

Currently, on view in the Community Gallery at THEARC, Susana Raab's photo essay "The Invisible Wall" is a collection of pictures displaying life east of the Anacostia River. The exhibition was recently featured in an article by Phil Hutinet, writer for East of the River Magazine.

THEARC Honored During Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Award Ceremony

On March 12, 2015 The Bank of America Charitable Foundation welcomed staff and supporters of Building Bridges Across the River, the nine nonprofits residing at THEARC and the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia (LCNV) for a special ceremony and reception honoring both nonprofits as 2014 Neighborhood Builders. The nonprofits were recognized for their work helping low and moderate income individuals gain access to education, healthcare, and other basic human services.

ArtReach at THEARC partners with Bridge Park to Host 1st Annual Fish Bike Parade

On April 12, 2015, ArtReach at THEARC and the 11th Street Bridge Park will partner to host the first annual Anacostia River Festival Fish Bike Parade! Colorful handmade fish windsocks afixed to hundreds of bicycles will recreate a beautiful, river of Koinobori fish traveling down the streets of Washington, D.C!

Double Time Jazz @ THEARC Theater provides performance based programming supporting the growth of jazz music east of the Anacostia River through concert productions featuring local, national and international artists and groups. Tickets for our Spring shows are currently on sale!

The Wacky and Whimsical Tea for THEARC Thanks Supporters and Sponsors

On Sunday, March 1, 2015 the Wacky & Whimsical Tea for THEARC took place at the Ritz-Carlton of Washington.  The event was fun-filled Sunday afternoon which included high tea, a raffle and creative games for kids of all ages and their families, including a treasure trove, special entertainment and other surprises.  All of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC).
