THEARC Organic Garden Shares Survey for 2016 Programming

The Organic Garden @ THEARC is a garden operating as a community project of Building Bridges Across the River (BBAR) developed to involve our community in nature, nutrition, and healthy eating. 

The garden consists of 22 raised beds, a culinary herb garden, an eighteen-tree orchard, a water cistern, a hoop house, honeybee hives and a pollinator garden. During the summer and fall months, THEARC’s garden provides affordable, organic fruits and vegetables to the communities in ward 8.

THEARC Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Phase III Building and Partners

On Thursday, October 22, 2015, Building Bridges Across the River welcomed over 100 guests to participate in a groundbreaking ceremony in anticipation of the new building set to open in 2017. Notable speakers included Mayor Muriel Bowser, Ward 8 Councilmember LaRuby May, Deputy Mayor or Greater Economic Development Courtney Snowden and ANC 8B Commissioner Jacque Patterson. 

THEARC Annouces Expansion of Campus and New Partnerships

The third and final phase of the $34 million expansion of the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) will begin later this month with a groundbreaking on October 22. $10.1 million has been raised so far for the $12.5 million fundraising effort for this phase. With designs by Alexandria-based Sanchez Palmer Architects, THEARC's new building will provide space for a larger Children's Health clinic, a black box theater, a gallery-educational center from the Phillips Collection, as well as a space for the the Bishop John T.

GW’s Rodham Institute Hosts Third Annual Summit at THEARC

Despite having access to world-class health care, Washington, D.C. suffers enormous health disparities. At today’s Third Annual Rodham Institute Summit at THEARC in southeast D.C., leaders from across the city came together to discuss how they can promote health equity and partner to bring compassionate and high-quality health care to all.

Speakers included Clinton Foundation Vice Chair Chelsea Clinton and Senator Chris Dodd.
